Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

BioSight is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published scholarly content.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Compatibility

BioSight’s Open Journal Systems installation has enabled LOCKSS and CLOCKSS publisher manifests. These manifests allow participating preservation networks and libraries to identify and collect eligible journal content in accordance with their own preservation arrangements.

Enabling these manifests does not, by itself, constitute a claim that BioSight has a formal preservation agreement or confirmed archival membership with LOCKSS or CLOCKSS.

Metadata Preservation and Harvesting

BioSight has enabled the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). This allows indexing services, libraries, repositories, and other scholarly systems to harvest the journal’s bibliographic metadata and improves the discoverability and recoverability of its published record.

Publisher Responsibilities

The Department of Physiology, University of Karachi, as the publisher of BioSight, is responsible for maintaining the journal website and protecting published content and associated metadata. The journal will take reasonable measures to maintain accessible copies of published articles and to restore or migrate content if the current publishing platform becomes unavailable.

Continuity of Access

If BioSight ceases publication or its present website is discontinued, the journal will seek to preserve and provide access to previously published content through an appropriate institutional repository, successor platform, or recognized digital preservation service.

Policy Development

BioSight intends to strengthen its preservation arrangements through a recognized long-term preservation service. This page will be updated when formal participation in such a service is confirmed.
